Posted by: thefeeder in Uncategorized on October 1st, 2009
These grooming your dog at home tips are helpful when you decide to do your own grooming. If your dog has special cuts to the coat, you can successfully groom your dog if you follow these important dog grooming tips. The first of the dog grooming tips is having the proper supplies. You will need brushes, clippers, shampoo, combs and a special nail clipper. The do it your self dog grooming can be done if you take your time. This is another of the dog grooming tips that help you and the dog. Always remember to have your supplies close by the area you will be working in at the time.
Using the right dog brush on your dog falls into the category of your basic dog grooming tips. Dogs need to be brushed in between baths to get rid of dead hair and any dander. The type of brush you use will depend on what kind of dog you have. This helps the dogs skin from drying out by moving the natural oils around. More dog grooming tips concern long hair dogs. If you keep the hair shorter and perform this weekly or monthly, the dog hair has less chance of becoming matted or tangled. Dog grooming tips about nail clipping are all about the ‘quick’. Never cut the claw too short or you can cause bleeding and quite a bit of pain. This might also scare the dog for future nail clippings. Another important tip about nail clipping also includes using the proper nail clipper. The nail clipper you use is not appropriate for your dog’s nails. If you happen to clip the nail too short make sure you have a styptic pencil to stop any bleeding that may occur.
Top 3 Reasons to Be Careful With Modern Diets
Posted by: thefeeder in Uncategorized on October 1st, 2009
Many modern diets promise great results, and some of them deliver quite well on those promises. However, there are three important things you need to be aware of before beginning any diet program in order to ensure healthy weight loss. They are:
1. If the diet omits certain foods, you may fall short of your nutritional requirements. An example of this is the Atkins diet, which is big on protein and veggies but low on carbs and fruit. If you’re active on a diet such as this, you need to be sure to take a good multivitamin to help make up where the diet is falling short. The best multivitamins are whole food vitamins, which can be found at your local health store.
2. Be careful not to cut back your calorie intake too fast. Cutting the amount of food you’re used to eating each day too quickly can leave you tired and lightheaded. It’s much better to scale back slowly. Besides, you won’t feel as hungry if you take it a little bit at a time.
3. Always consult your doctor before starting a diet plan. It may sound contradictory, but you need to be relatively healthy before starting a major weight loss program. Be sure to get a checkup from your physician first, and get his or her opinion on the diet program you’re planning on following.
Dieting doesn’t have to be difficult, but you want to make sure that you lose weight in a natural, healthy way. With many of today’s modern weight loss programs, the emphasis is on speed rather than health. Be careful and plan ahead if you want to lose weight the right way.
Amos Murray has been writing articles online for over 5 years now. He lost 45 lbs in six months and has kept it off, so he knows what he’s talking about when it comes to dieting, but he also runs a online shopping web site at SaleFoo.com.
Are Barn Conversions Really Worth The Money?
Posted by: thefeeder in Uncategorized on October 1st, 2009
Introduction
A Barn Conversion is exactly what it says it is, ie a barn which is no longer used for its original purpose and has been converted to a different use such as a commercial or residential dwelling. Barns were usually close to the farmhouse and would have been used for storing grain or fodder for animals; housing animals such as cows and horses; or places for food production or storage. Often the stables and barns were the buildings where the business of the farms and manor houses took place so they were built to last and keep out the weather. They were often much better built than the cottages which housed the workers and farm labourers. So it doesn’t take much leap of imagination to see that once no longer needed for the intended purpose their use could be changed to provide much needed homes.
History of the Barn Conversion
About thirty or forty years ago there was a sudden spate of new dwellings known as barn conversions. I am not saying barns had never been converted into houses before but suddenly they were all the rage. The barns attached to farms that were no longer being used for their intended purpose became a source of capital for struggling farmers. The change in farm practices such as combine harvester’s, meant that some of the barns previously used as threshing barns were no longer needed for that purpose. What had once been a low value farm buildings could be capitalized on as building land and there was a spate of a new type of dwelling that quickly earned the nickname ‘Dez Rez’ for desirable residences.
The fact that barn conversions were original old buildings yet could be renovated to a high standard while at the same time retaining their original features such as exposed beams or hay stalls, made them different from the average box type house available on the market at the time. After all if there is one thing that people love, particularly the well off, it is to be able to buy something that is different and not have to be the same as everyone else. Barn conversions were the perfect solution to combat the modern lego-land style developments springing up in most towns and villages.
After the war there was an urgent need for housing and lots of homes were put up very quickly and as cheaply as possible to house the many families left destitute after the bombing. As the standard of living improved many people wanted their own home and builders ever willing to supply to demand, built thousands of three bedroom homes to a standard design. Suddenly our country was filling up with lots of little box type housing with no character. So when the barn conversion came along they provided a different type of property with lots of character that attracted a wealthier clientele and sold at highly inflated prices.
Now when large manor type houses are too expensive to run, they are sold off to developers who then convert the main building into flats and apartments, the barns into individual houses and building more houses on the land around the original buildings. My daughter bought her first house in one such development and her house was the original stable building with a large opening for the carriage which was converted into a large arch shaped window. It was certainly different and had lots of character with very high ceilings and lovely open plan spaces.
To find a dream property in an area of outstanding natural beauty then consider the barn conversions Derbyshire option.
Types of Barns
There are a wonderful variety of barns around the country and that is why they are so popular. The original farmers used local materials that were readily available for their barns so they vary greatly depending on the area in which they were constructed. Again this is part of their appeal because although some may be similar you will rarely find two exactly the same.
For instance Lincolnshire has barns made with flint stones where the walls look like cement with the stones imbedded in it making an interesting pattern. These can also be found in Sussex. In the Cotswolds there are wonderful stone barns and in East Anglia clay lump.
Barns that were originally designed for use as a threshing barn would have a large door opening for the cart to deliver the grain. There would be a raised threshing floor where the wheat was separated from the chaff and ventilation openings opposite the door to create that all important through draft for winnowing. Light mostly came in through the open doorway.
Near the farmhouse barns were built to be used as milking sheds and dairies, then there were storage barns for fodder and food as well as stables for the horses. Further away there were barns built in fields for sheltering livestock. Often the outbuildings on a farm were much more extensive than the farmhouse itself. Added to those mentioned above there were the huge tithe barns used to store the church’s tax of 10% from parishioners.
Finding a Barn
Finding and converting a barn is no easy task. With the new regulations in place barns available for conversion are diminishing rapidly. Opposite to my own house there were two quite large brick built barns which the farmer sold to a developer. Being built of brick they were in a bad state of repair, but instead of converting them the builder pulled them down and built two large modern houses on the site. He used the old bricks and created interesting features on the houses to indicate where the barns had been but they were too far gone to be able to be useful for residential dwellings.
Listed buildings
Many old barns are now considered by National Heritage to be buildings of historic or architectural interest and as such are listed either on a Statutory or local list. This means that listed building consent is required for alteration, extension or demolition of any statutory listed building. Where other barns are deemed worthy of protection they are placed on a borough’s local list and will be available from the local borough council.
A barn that is listed either as a grade I or grade II building will have an additional set of issues for conversion. It will need to be sympathetically repaired, protected and restored with original materials and workmanship involving extra costs of labour and materials.
Conservationists believe that preserving the original structure is the main criteria and non residential purpose is likely to avoid major alteration to the building.
There is no doubt that if you have a converted barn for sale then you are in the strong position. Why would you want to sell it?
Construction and Planning
Since the indiscriminate conversion of barns in the 70’s and 80’s to housing units, there has been a change of policy by the local planning authorities. Now there is a ruling in some areas which states that a barn must be declared redundant for farm purposes. Then the new use should preferably be agricultural or light commercial, or even craft shops and community resources before being accepted for residential conversion. Also any buildings of original character must be capable of adaptation without altering the appearance, setting or landscape value.
Each local borough council will have their own regulations regarding their policies on conversion of rural buildings into residential dwellings. So if you fall in love with a crumbling ruin or anyone involved with converting a barn or outbuilding would be wise to find out the regulations in the area the barn is situated before you buy. Some policies will be universal throughout the country such as listed buildings or of historic or architectural interest. Generally the outside of the barn is required to retain its original appearance without the addition of extra windows and doors. This can be problematic for residential purposes because barns generally did not have many windows and the doors were often much larger than required for housing.
The process of getting planning permission can be very long winded. There have to be surveys for various habitation such as bats and barn owls. In damp areas one such problem can be the blue crested newt where only specially trained people can handle them and their presence can delay the process of building for a year or more. There might have to be contamination reports or archaeological report.
On top of that there are the infrastructure issues. They may be some services connected such as electricity and water but consideration may also need to be given to sewage and gas and what the costs are of bringing such services to the building. Because the barn buildings are old then beetle infestation, timber rot, or vermin infestations will need to be treated and made good.
Old timbers found in barns are often so badly damaged that repairing in the traditional way may not be possible. Although it may be possible to use more modern resin bonding techniques.
Although the original barn building would have been constructed before our current building regulations, they are still required to comply with the strict standards now in existence. The heat loss standards are a challenge particularly with large open spaces and fire regulations and structural stability can also be tricky to achieve.
When barns were originally constructed there was little concern for protection against damp as they were designed for agricultural use. They were built without a damp course and salt contamination is often a problem. One of the major tasks when converting a barn is to resolve the issues of damp. As barns were typically made from a wide range of materials, there is no one specific solution to all damp problems.
If you are planning on completing your own barn renovations project you need to be sure you have sufficient funds and resources for all the unexpected challenges you will have to deal with.
Building Regulations and Costs
The special ambience and character that a converted barn has is what makes them very desirable. Prospective owners will have a feeling for the building, saying things like “When we first saw the building we just fell in love with it” Often that just means that they projected their desires and dreams onto the building imagining the life style they want will be achieved by living in that particular building.
This means that the heart is ruling the head and sometimes means that no matter what it costs they have to have it. That is fine if you have an unlimited source of revenue to lay out, but it can be dangerous to allow spending to get out of hand so that you end up bankrupting yourself for a dream.
So let us look at the reality of converting a barn. They were built to keep the rain out and let the air in, so they will be very draughty. They were often put up by labourers with no real building and structural knowledge, so that there might be severe structural difficulties. The beams and walls were built to only take the stresses of the necessary inner divisions at the time but modern regulations may require extra structural supports and strengthening to take the load of the new services required.
Barns were never heated because they were work places, but once you convert a barn into a dwelling it will be heated usually with central heating which will dry out the structure causing it to shrink and develop cracks that could let in water. Further services such as gas and sewage will no doubt have to be installed and improved.
A damp proof system and maybe other damp solutions will need to be included in the renovation. The restrictions on inserting windows and doors may create design problems that make the interior uncomfortably dark. Heat loss prevention is now part of the building regulations requirement and barns may not be suitable for such procedures, so further work may be necessary to comply with modern standards.
Once you have found your barn and had it surveyed and if you still want to go ahead with your barn conversion then a good architect, surveyor and builders are essential for the success of the project.
Conclusion
The idea of a barn conversion may be appealing because of its ambience and character and space that it offers. However, although zero rated for VAT purposes, barn conversions are generally much more expensive than building a new house.
Converting a barn is a much more complex process than it seems because when they were originally constructed they were outside of any building regulations and so to comply with modern day standards they almost always need major structural alterations.
The bias against residential conversion is because too many early renovations just became glorified houses and lost the original barn effect by adding extra doors and windows. Now the strict planning regulations are aimed at deterring conversions into residential use, the preference being to retain the agricultural use of a barn or to change the use to some kind of commercial application.Craft shops of site offices are ideal commercial applications for barns today.
Notwithstanding that, the completed barn conversion, in the correct setting, is a satisfying and beautiful sight, affording the owner and builder a sense of satisfaction and achievement.
The key indicator of success is that the barn still looks like a barn after the conversion, although it is your home inside and offers you all of the luxuries and amenities of a modern executive home.
Being a Tourist Could Be a Risky Experience
Posted by: thefeeder in Uncategorized on October 1st, 2009
A tourist may or may not be afraid of change. A tourist is a traveler who travels for pleasure. Most travel photographers, unless they are professionals, are simply tourists with cameras. A tourist is traveling with a guide through one of the thickest jungles in Latin America, when he comes across an ancient Mayan temple. The tourist is entranced by the temple, and asks the guide for details.
A tourist is a tourist and has been known to make bizarre purchases such as oriental rugs. You know what a tourist means…it means someone from out of town visiting the city. A tourist is defined as a hapless victim who stays in one of the western-style hotels and travels on those Agatha-Christie-style Nile riverboats.
Tourists are also advised that the hurricane season lasts from June to November, during which time they may come across additional travel hazards due to adverse weather. This can cause excessively ringing ears. Tourists are also a major contributing factor to the depletion of the ozone layer and tourists can be victims of crimes in any country.
Tourists can be educated to recognize that what they are seeing is not a wilderness, but a human as well a natural environment. Local people can be allowed to use parks and reserves, in return for undertakings about development, grazing pressure and poaching. Tourists can be recognized by several external characteristics. Tourists can be just a much a target of hostility as any military force. Indeed, tourists could be regarded as a soft target since they do not have the backup of a large organization.
Tourists can be just as dangerous as tomb robbers if caution is not taken. Tourists bring in foreign objects such as trash, but also food and other sources of litter that are organically based. Tourists can be guided to their destinations such as tourist spots without any manual help, and may even be enticed to interview for a job. This gives the tourists an effective and comfortable traveling experience and also attracts many foreign tourists, thus developing the tourism, resulting in inflow of foreign exchange and increase in financial revenues. Panama is not exempt.
Tourists can be charmed by long and fascinating trips to archeological monuments with ancient rock paintings and mysterious plateaus rich in astonishing legends. Old residents in the vicinity can believe that there is much evidence to the fact that UFOs used to land nearby.
Tourists will be happy to learn that in the major cities, English is widely spoken, especially by the younger generation. But for the smaller towns, it’s virtually impossible to find people who can or will speak English.

Archiving email
Posted by: thefeeder in Uncategorized on October 1st, 2009
The problem with email isn’t just spam these days. No, one of the most awkward problems is just how much email many of us want to keep. For example, I move all my emails from family members into a special email folder, which keeps them neat. That’s great, but as they’ve grown over time they’re cluttering up my email application and making it slower. I don’t want to get rid of them, so what can I do?
Find out more about one solution at sublime-products.com.
If you use Mozilla Thunderbird, you’ll already know it’s free and it’s great. But if you have a lot of accounts in it and lots of incoming email, it does slow down. To use it efficiently you need to keep the number of emails in it down to a sensible level. Some people have many thousands of emails in their email application.
Some people keep that many because they want to access them whenever they feel like it. That’s great, but in reality most of us only need to do it once or twice a month . For me, I was running a sub-optimal system and my email application was very slow Using an email backup system now gives me the best of both worlds. I can quickly search for an old email whenever I need one, but my normal email system runs fast and lean, which saves me time every day.
Well, there are several solutions to backup outlook email and many of them are free.
Some of the solutions aren’t always easy to use, however. In your own search for a solution check this list of the facilities to look out for:
1) Secure database backup
2) One click backup
3) Simple viewing of emails which have been archived
4) Rapid searching facilities
5) Burn to cd archiving
When you install your solution here’s a tip for you: delete your spam before you do the backup! There’s nothing worse than backing up a ton of spam messages. Best to get rid of them before you do the actual backup.
How To Operate A Company
Posted by: thefeeder in Uncategorized on October 1st, 2009
Tired of your full time job and think you are ready to run your own company? If so then you may want to learn a few things about yourself before taking that stressful yet rewarding plunge into the business world. Are you the kind of person that does not give up easy? Do you get frustrated, but still push on in other areas of your life? Do you have the knowledge to perform the tasks required? Can you manage others effectively?
Before jumping in some of the things that might help you succeed is knowing what to do ahead of time. For instance if you are wanting to learn how to start a plumbing business you will need to know how to market that business, the legalities of running such a business, how to handle the money going in and out of the business as well as having the knowledge to perform the tasks of this particular type of business.
Knowing all of this still will not mean you will succeed. Success will come from more than what the business is about. For instance you need to have a great desire to succeed. This desire is what will help you push forward when your stress becomes over whelming. This desire is also what you will need to help give you the belief that you can succeed. Your desire, or called burning desire is the secret to building a business. With the burning desire you will work many hours into the evening, without it, you will get burned out fast and give up.
The Web Design Process Unravelled: A Client Perspective
Posted by: thefeeder in Uncategorized on October 1st, 2009
Introduction
When I decided I needed a website for my business I had no idea of the planning involved. Like most people, I thought web design meant deciding on the graphics and the look of the pages and then by some magic it would all happen.
I have a friend who is in the business of web design and Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) so I approached him for a quote. As a complete novice who is computer literate up to a point, I was amazed at the depth of initial questioning required to find out exactly what I wanted to achieve.
I had no idea about the various aspects and the structure of the site and I found it mind blowing when I learned about the amount of work involved. So I thought other people would be interested to know more about this complicated process and I have asked my friend to supply the technical information for this article.
Stages in the Process
Target Audience
Before building a website there are important questions to consider. I was asked who would be my target audience. Who are my customers likely to be? Would they be children, businesses, home owners, sales people, parents or teenagers and so on?
The objective of the website
Then I was asked, what was the objective of my website? Did I want to sell services on line or use it to market my business and get more leads for possible customers? Maybe I would want to use it as an online brochure to showcase products. Another possibility was to use the website to foster a community so that I was in contact with other like-minded people, with chat rooms, online discussion and being supported by advertising on the site.
I hadn’t quite realised the scope of a website but as I was asked these questions it became clear that a lot of careful planning went into the preparation before building a website.
How to be Found on the Web
One of the first questions I was asked was, ‘Do you want it to be found by Google the main search engine?’ If I did then there was a whole process of establishing Keywords. So finding the best keywords are vital if you want to be found in Google. Generally most users only look at the top ten results so you will also want to promote your website to get on this page for your chosen keywords. By using a keyword research tool you can find the single most popular keyword for your industry.
Your Domain Name
Choosing a domain name is often quite a problem because every name you initially come up with will almost certainly have been taken. Domain names ending in .com are by far the most popular and internationally recognised; the snag is that it’s very popularity means that the majority of the shorter names have already been registered.
So looking at names with endings such as .net; .co.uk or .info may be able to provide you with the domain name you want.
We were lucky with our asbestos survey company domain name because we had good advice about registering it a good few years ago and got one with the word demolition in it, which also happens to be our company name.
When choosing your domain name it is very important to include one or more of your keywords if possible as this can apparently help with search engine rankings. So although the name of your business is the obvious choice for a domain name, it is not necessarily the only option.
Creating a Site Map
As with any project you must have a plan, the better the plan the better the project turns out. A site map for a web site is part of the plan for the site. The importance of creating a site map is to get it clear in your mind of all the pages you will have on your website so you can prepare the content for each page and begin to design the flow through the website, such as when a user adds a product to their basket, then enters their delivery and billing address and makes the credit card payment in the correct order.
The aim is to make the site as simple to use as possible so that there are no barriers to getting into the website. For that reason often user name and passwordz are set for the customer so that they are not put off making a purchase by having to register.
For a non e-commerce site things are simpler with a contact form which allows you to receive enquiries by email without publishing your email address on the website, thus avoiding spam.Web forms can also validate the information before you receive it, so ensuring that the phone number provided does not contain words, and that the email address is in the correct format, for example. These things may sound very technical to us lay-folk but I assure you everything has to be decided in advance before starting on the construction of the site.
Copy
The next stage is preparing the copy. This is not the design of your website – just the words and visuals you want to have one each of the pages.Having gathered all the above information you will need to decide what imagery you want to use within the website content. As we all know, a picture speaks a thousand words and remains in people’s memory far longer than just words. For each image you could also have a caption, as the caption of an image is the next ‘most read’ words on the page after the page title. Images and their captions need to be clickable. When you click on a picture it should take you to the next stage of the process such as the sale page or placing an enquiry if your website is for lead generation.
Navigation
Another important consideration when building a website is how you want your navigation to work. You can have links within the content of your website, in the text, so there are not just links from the menu. You will need to decide whether the links will open into a new window, retaining your original page open. Next time you go online, you will realise how much thought has gone into the way in which a website works.
Website Design
Finally we come to the design of your website. My SEO colleague says that due to the subjective nature of design it is a very difficult process to get right every time.
What one person might like, another person might not like. If you are setting up a website for yourself alone then you will probably have some idea of what you want to see on the site. But if, as so often happens, the website is for a large corporation there will be inputs from many people or departments and you can be sure that they will never all agree!
There are a number of ways to approach website design but ultimately you need to create a design brief for the designer(s) to work from. Look at other websites and your competitor’s websites to find out what you like or dislike. The design brief should give reference to the logo, any existing brand guidelines or schemes and fonts and colour schemes, and should also detail which pages of the website that the designer is being tasked with creating visuals for.
The very best results will be achieved by using a graphic designer, and beware – not all graphic designers are the same. A graphic designer who designs specifically for print is working in a different discipline than a graphic designer who designs for screen and specifically the web. So choose your designer carefully, look at other work that person has done and determine whether or not you like their style.
If you are working in the big time and budget allows, use multiple graphic designers who have all been given the same design brief and request three concept designs from each designer. If the client themselves also do a graphic design, even if it’s a back of the envelope scribble, you will then have 10 concept designs. The next step is to get them all together and select the preferred elements from each design. Then give the work to the preferred graphic designer to work up as the final artwork.
The artwork should be finalised and agreed on by everybody before construction of the site begins.
Production
Finally the preparation has been done and the site is ready to be built. Now for the more technical stuff! You will need to have decided which programming language to use to build the website. There are two main types for developing a website, one is Unix based, and the other is Windows based. Each one has advantages and disadvantages. If you are starting from scratch then it probably won’t matter, so you can go with the preference of your professional doing the work. My website is built on the Unix platform (apparently!) which is the same as many of the more well known websites such as Ebay, Facebook, Google and Amazon. Also your website hosting must be compatible with the development language with which your website is built.
Accessibility and Compliance
The website has to meet the current standards for website coding and doing so insures that disabled users, such as the visually impaired, can still access the entire website if they are using a Braille web browser.
Website Development
The best way to develop a website is on the web Server where the site is going to live. This way, those involved in reviewing the work can see work in progress and provide feedback throughout the development.
Unforeseen items
There are always some things that arise in any project which you suddenly realise you have forgotten, so no matter how well the website designer prepares and asks the right questions, there will always be a last minute change or addition. The main aim is to minimise the number of glitches that might arise because they aren’t calculated in and they could cause extra costs and delays on the date of the web site going live.
Publishing Your New Website
The moment of excitement comes when your site finally gets launched and you see the results of all the thought that has gone into the whole process. After all the hard work it was great to get our website launched. Who would have thought so much work would have to go into a little old demolition project website.
Reporting and Monitoring
Once your website is up and running, you will want to know how many people visit your website and from that number how many actually buy the products or place an enquiry. From these statistics you can work out the ratio of hits to sales and gradually make changes to improve the ratios. There are some reliable statistics packages such as Google Analytics or Web-Stat.com which allow you to collect and review website visitor data in near real time. All you need to do this is to have a small block of code inserted into each web page on your site.
Another useful service that Web-stat.com provides is to monitor the website and warn you by email or text message if the site goes down. Google Analytics doesn’t yet provide a comparable uptime monitoring service, maybe they just decided it was too much of a headache as it is an intensive service checking a website every 5 minutes to make sure it is still responding and indeed web-stat do promote this difference as one of their unique selling points but it is pretty hard to compete with free. In fact Google Analytics is not quite free, which makes it an even better marketing decision for Google because sometimes it is harder to give things away for free than it is to sell them! Google Analytics is a free service available to Google AdWords advertisers, you don’t actually have to have any AdWords campaigns running but it will cost you a one-time activation fee of £5 (or similar in your local currency) to open your AdWords account, but once you have done that you can go on to use Google Analytics for as many websites as you like.
Marketing
Once the website is live there are lots of things you can do to market your product or service. The first step is to submit it to the search engines and at the same time write articles, and press releases. Getting links to the site from forums, blogs and other social networking spaces are other options. For more on this subject ask your developer about SEO
Conclusion
Wheww. What an amazing amount of work! I hadn’t realised when I started the process of getting a website up and running, how complicated it all is and how many factors you have to consider before even designing the website. The word web design is really a misnomer, as people often think it’s just about the graphic design on the home page, and the branding of the product. Unless you are a computer buff, most people have no idea how much goes into designing and building a website and the systems that support the work you want it to do. I hope that this article will give readers an understanding and insight into the whole process of website development from start to finish.

Ventless Fireplaces are Taking Over the Traditional Wood Burning Fireplaces
Posted by: thefeeder in Uncategorized on October 1st, 2009
While brick fireplaces aren’t cheap, installing a central heating system can be almost twice as expensive and doesn’t enhance your home decor like a fireplace.
Appealing outdoor fireplaces are today available at affordable prices, are portable and are also easy to use. In the presence of an outdoor fireplace family and friendly gatherings will also be much more fun due to the right amount of warmth that it will bring to your backyard, patio and pool area.
Manufactured fireplaces are designed for new construction only and are perfect for new home jobsites and remodel projects. Accessories and venting are available for all fireplaces, installation services are also available or save money and do it yourself.
Since they do not require a flue, chimney, or external venting ducts, ventless fireplaces are much less expensive to install compared to traditional gas or wood fireplaces. Ventless gas fireplaces or heaters use natural gas or propane as fuel and burns the gas with air from the room.
Ventless, vent free or unvented fireplaces are designed to expel combustion gasses and moisture directly back into the room. Ventless fireplaces are also popping up in unique settings like between floor to ceiling columns and as focal points for home theatres and entertainment areas.
Gas logs and gas fireplaces are a plastic experience, just not the real thing. Humankind has evolved with real wood fire, and the quality of light rays and heat radiated from a wood fire cannot be imitated by a controlled gas flame piped in from who knows where. If you insist, some fireplaces are environmentally friendly, with clean-burning gel that does not leave any messy soot, smoke or ashes behind.
While they produce some radiant heat, most wood burning fireplaces are primarily decorative. Even heat circulating models still pull a tremendous amount of air from the home. In addition, keep your fireplace damper closed unless a fireplace is going. Keeping the damper open is like keeping a 48 inch window wide open during the winter as it allows warm air to go right up the chimney.
To clean a fireplace that does not get a lot of use, you probably will not have to do much more than scrub it gently. Use a brush that has stiff bristles, but avoid a wire brush as it may cause damage.
If you have an older fireplace strongly consider installing a fireplace insert. Fireplace inserts are additives that help to burn wood, natural gas, and wood pellets, and will transform your current fireplace from an energy liability into an energy asset for your home. You can then have the warmth and romance of a fireplace whenever you want.
You can change types of fireplaces and find your favorite look. A fireplace that is too huge steals attention from other center pieces such as the sofa set or a large painting in the living room. What you want is a nice cozy corner.
