Cheap holidays to New York: the Big Apple on a budget
Posted by: thefeeder in Uncategorized on January 10th, 2010
To experience cheap holidays to New York, a visitor must be very frugal. This will also depend on a person’s definition of cheap.
If your definition of cheap is a low price on normal accommodations than a hotel room below $150 a night would be and is a bargain in New York. The funny thing about a room in New York is that what is considered a room there is the size of a walk in closest for most of the country.
For those thinking of camping out in Central Park, the movies are a little dramatic but still realistic enough to advise against it. New York City has been the largest city in America since 1790 and it is still growing. Most of the growth is up so the concentration of people is getting great and greater by the day.
There is no getting around the cost of most major attractions like the Empire State Building is $20 for adults and $14 for children under 12. To visit the Statue of Liberty is more reasonable, it is free. But like most things there is a catch. The statue is on an island so the ferry man must be paid. The ferry cost $12 for adults and $5 for children under the age of 12.
When making your plans and small children are not included on the trip, consider one of the many hostels that can be stayed at for under $50. There are even some for under $20 a night. You will have to share a bed room and a bathroom, but the savings is tremendous compared to the Plaza at $549 a night.
Finding a cheap holidays to New York is possible just look for the bargins.
What Exactly Is Dyslexia?
Posted by: thefeeder in Uncategorized on January 10th, 2010
The history of dyslexia has been one of long struggle in the darkness of ignorance, culminating in rapid and considerable progress in the last 25 years.
Dyslexics learn differently. Their eyes see the same but their brains interpret the signals from the eyes differently than those of non-dyslexics. It’s O.K., many famous people have been dyslexic. But to reach full potential they need to be taught differently, according to their needs.
In roughly the last fifteen years, dyslexia testing has been part of the educational process. Children in elementary schools have routinely been screened for dyslexia. As part of their standard procedures, everyone went through preliminary screening. Those identified as possibly dyslexic, plus all those that the teachers identified as having problems with reading, were put through full scale testing for dyslexia which identified whether or not they were dyslexic, and, if so, what type and to what degree was the problem.
Before about 15 years ago, dyslexics were lumped in with the rest of the students and had to take their chances. Most were treated badly by the educational system, called lazy, slow learners, underachievers. They were made to feel ashamed of and embarrassed by their differences and learned to conceal them.
Today there are millions of dyslexic adults still struggling to deal with the world through a dyslexic lens, not realizing that dyslexia is their problem and a simple dyslexia test could set them on the road to life-changing improvements.
There are many different types of dyslexia. In fact, there is no standard “type”; everyone is different. Dyslexics cannot be classified and put into different “boxes” to process. Each one must be tested and evaluated separately.
For adult dyslexics (part of the 2+ million) out there a dyslexic test could open up a whole new world of how to easily do things they had never been able to do before. Many adult dyslexics are identified when one of their children tests positive for dyslexia in school. Since dyslexia runs in families, parents of newly-identified dyslexics are often encouraged to be tested. Doing so has opened up new possibilities, new abilities, new careers for many.

A Little Mozzarella History
Posted by: thefeeder in Uncategorized on January 10th, 2010
Even though many other cheeses are gaining popularity as the pizza cheese, mozzarella cheese is still definitely considered “the” cheese for pizza toppings. Even those pies that are sporting new and unique cheese combinations almost always include mozzarella in the mix, and the processed designer cheese products that have been developed specifically as pizza cheeses are only meant to be “new and improved” versions of the traditional mozzarella but would you settle for any less?
For those of us who love the Melbourne Pizza, it’s fun to know a little more about the history of the products that make it, starting with some of the very basics of the best pizza pie.
Mozzarella has predominantly been the most favored choice of pizza cheese. As with most cheeses, it has been widely considered that mozzarella was really created entirely by accident. Legend has it that mozzarella was only created when cheese gratings accidently fell off a table into boiling hot water.
But getting to the point about mozzarella, it is a mild cheese that undergoes a curing process not very different to dropping it into hot water off a table. Though we know little about its history, we do know that the first mozzarellas were made not from cow’s milk, as most modern people would expect, but from the milk of water buffaloes.
In fact, true water buffalo mozzarella is considered one of the absolute best choices when cheese matters, but it is not a product that is widely produced commercially; instead, most pizza and delivery outfits make do with the still excellent fresh cow’s mozzarella. Despite the scarcity of mozzarella from buffalo, there are still ways to get it and use real water buffalo mozzarella, including some areas of the mediterranian and from specialty food providers. The question then remains; Who milks the buffalo?
